Timberline Foundation is a non-profit, publicly-supported charity interested in programs, institutions and organizations that encourage the development of individuals equipped to be citizens of the world.

Established in 2001 as Winterline Foundation, Inc., Timberline operated under that name until 2017. It was founded by Mahendrajeet “Jeet” Singh, a successful entrepreneur, musician and global citizen. Born to Indian parents in Stockholm, Sweden, Jeet had lived in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and North America. Scholar, athlete and successful businessman, Jeet established the organization to “give back” to those who helped shape his transnational view: Woodstock School in Uttarakhand, India, and more generally the peoples of the Himalayan region of India.

The Board of Directors of Timberline continues to reflect its initial interest in supporting Woodstock School as exemplary of many of the Foundation's attitudes and values. Most Directors have a historic tie to the School as former students or instructors. Over time, however, the activity of the Foundation has changed and focused to create the current roster of “community consensus programs”.

Timberline's Board of Directors evaluates the focus of the organization every three to four years, ensuring the long-term relevance and success of the programs it supports. The Foundation generally targets organizations identified by its own research but is open to consideration of program ideas put forth by others.

Timberline Foundation is recognized as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Contributions are tax-deductible. Its tax ID No. is 04-3547684.
